Finding #5: Change maturity is slightly higher compared to the rest of the world

In this blog series, we are presenting five key findings from our CPH Change 2021 survey. This is this fifth and final finding on change maturity.

Finding 5

Many of the nominated for the CPH Change Award 2021 worked on enterprise change management leveraging change to a portfolio management level as we know it from the PMO (Project Management Office) or organizational change management to build change maturity and organizational change agility.

The participants rated how integrated change management is in their organizations on a scale from 1-5. The scale is based on Prosci©’s Maturity Model:

The participants in our study have a slightly higher maturity in change management than the rest of the world, compared to Prosci Best Practice Research 11th edition launched April 2021. The same question was posed to the CPH Change participants in 2019 and it appears more organizations moved from level 2 to level 3.

When we compare the data about maturity and the three contributors to successful change initiatives, it becomes clear that the more mature the organization is when it comes to change management, the more change management resources are prioritized.

Furthermore, the more mature the organization is, the more likely the change initiatives are to have an active and visible sponsor in the lead of a change project.

If we look at industries, IT, manufacturing, and energy, oil and gas have integrated change management the most:
